TL;DR: By day, I'm a startup and small business ecosystem builder with a focus on helping business leaders make the most of their marketing investments.

On my LinkedIn profile, you'll also find information about the non-profits and initiatives supporting young people, startups and small bsuiensses I'm involved in. The content I share on that platform includes updates about the #MNTech ecosystem and advice founders and leadership team members can use to make the most of their marketing investment.

However, Here on Medium, I maintain my Ship 30 for 30 writing habit by sharing things on my mind or random ideas related to generative AI I've been thinking about thrown in from time to time.

Continue reading for the backstory that led me to start a Medium blog ⤵️

When my son was 4, like most entrepreneurs and driven professionals with a young family, I found myself pulled in different directions. I tried optimizing my areas of responsibility, and while it helped me scale my capacity, it did very little for my energy levels.

Working out was always the last thing on my to-do list, and if I’m being honest, I saw it as a luxury, a reward to look forward to when everything else got done.

However, as the list kept growing, it kept getting pushed back.

I remember when I decided to do something about it like it was yesterday.

I was wrapping up some client work and finalizing a proposal late one Friday night.

The following morning my son worked up before sunrise, as 4-year-olds do, and he wanted to play. I realized at that moment my current approach to managing all my areas of responsibility would need to evolve if I was going to be the father I wanted to be.

That realization led me down a path of researching a fitness routine that would seamlessly work with my current season of life but be flexible enough to evolve as our family life evolves.

Surprisingly, I couldn’t find any solutions that didn’t involve sacrificing another area of life.

The interesting programs I found were either designed for athletes, required me to leave early in the morning, or come home late in the evenings, missing precious family time.

So I designed my own that included both physical and mental fitness without sacrificing the things that matter.

I used these books to build the first version of my system. ⤵️

The outcome, beyond running my first marathon, is I now have more energy, am able to be present in the moment with my family and colleagues, and, more importantly, am able to keep up with our little guy.

What to expect on my Medium account. ⤵️

My Medium posts used to be focused on sales and marketing-related content, you'll still be able to find them here on LinkedIn.

My posts here will now be focused more on improving my current system, lessons learned, mental and physical fitness-related books, products, tools, resources, and mental models I’m finding useful.

Basically, I’m turning my Medium account into the resource I wish I had found when I was looking for a solution.

All that being said, here are the places I’m most active online and what you’ll get from following me on each. ⤵️

Strava — an archive of my workout routine, the occasional random thoughts that aren't enough for a full Medium post.

LinkedIn — the professional outcome of my investment in my physical and mental fitness focus. My content here is mostly focused on marketing and sales-related insights for founders and leadership team members.

Instagram — a miscellaneous archive of personal photos, stories of the podcasts I’m currently listening to, and the occasional random thought.

Peloton — my leaderboard name is #garrio if you'd like to follow me there as well.
